Cleveland County Court Clerk Records

Court Clerk Marilyn Williams runs the records office at 200 S. Peters Ave., Norman, OK 73069. The phone is 405-321-6402. The email is MARILYN.WILLIAMS@OSCN.NET. Hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. This office keeps records of the District Courts in Cleveland County's judicial district. The Court Clerk handles a wide range of case types. Criminal felonies and misdemeanors, civil filings, small claims, name changes, evictions, and probate cases all come through here.

Copy fees are $1.00 for the first page and $0.50 for each page after that. Certification costs $0.50 per document. Authentication runs $7.00 per certificate. Marriage license copies are $2.00 for a certified version. You can pay by check, money order, or credit card if you are there in person. Mail requests need a self-addressed stamped envelope. Most requests take about 10 business days once payment arrives. A Request for Records form is available on the Cleveland County Court Clerk website. Court transcripts are handled by court reporters, not the clerk.

Under the Oklahoma Open Records Act in Title 51, Sections 24A.1 through 24A.29, most records here are open to the public. Sealed and expunged cases are the exceptions.

Cleveland County is not on the OKCountyRecords.com system. You need to contact the Cleveland County Clerk directly or use the county website's own search tools to access land records. An online portal on the county site lets you search most records. In-person visits are another option. Copies cost $1 per page. Certified copies run $1 per certificate. Records are open to the public under the state's Open Records Act.

Cleveland County Background Check Access Rules

Most court records in Cleveland County are open to the public. You do not need to be part of the case. The Open Records Act in Title 51 sets out the rules. Criminal files show charges, pleas, and sentencing. Civil records show filings, motions, and court orders. Walk into the clerk's office during hours and you can ask to see a file.

Some records are off limits. Juvenile cases are sealed by state law. Adoption files are private. Expunged records are gone from public access. They will not show up on OSCN, ODCR, or in an OSBI search. Mental health proceedings are also protected.
